Introduction:
Body image is the way that a person sees himself in
the mirror .how to react? what does he feel? what does he think?
These feelings are influenced by individual and
environmental factors. they can be positive, negative, or both :
Is he satisfied with the way he looks?
Body image is a perception that is affected by people
who are around you, by what surrounds you, the environment that you live in,
and most of all, social media that became the biggest
cause.
My experience:
I live around people that consider
being white, tall, and skinny are signs of beauty.
At first, I didn’t care. But At the beginning of my teen, everything has changed. I become so dependent on what
people say, on what social media shows, which made me feel uncomfortable when
I am around tall people when I eat with skinny ones when I look in the mirror
when I buy a piece of clothing and it doesn’t suit me. And by the time, these thoughts
have become permanent and made me feel guilty for everything I was doing,
especially when it comes to my body weight.
I eat, I feel guilty. what do I do?
I go to my room and burn those calories for hours
When I don’t, I feel guilty and spend all day and the day after that and even the whole week thinking about those calories that went to my body and turned into fats so I look in the mirror and what I say?
‘’look at you fat, how you can’t be and you ate
all that amount of calories look at those legs those thighs knees,..’’ and it
goes to hating the way I walk the way I smile the way I talk .. why my skin
looks like that why I have a lot of pimples. I hate my hair...
I hated myself
Social media is a destruction
Why I don’t have her/his body?
why they eat that much food and don't gain weight?
Why my legs are bulky and short?
Why I was born with knocked knees?
I was starring at myself in the mirror, trying to pose
differently, so my knees won’t look that close and bulky
Every day, I was trying different poses so I can
pretend to look normal in a sexy way, trying to figure out poses that make my
thighs look skinnier.
I have big thighs and hands
I should lose weight
And when I did, believe me, I was still not satisfied, my
legs still look short and bulky; I still have knocked knees I still have big
arms.
I was in my normal weight but I always see myself
overweight, I was « skinny fat ». I had fat around my thighs butt calves arms...
not to mention that I have a small face and small boobs so if I'll lose weight,
i guess I won’t have a face or boobs anymore.
Avoid complexity:
All I want to say, we will always have insecurities,
if we pass one, another will come.
In my experience the only solution i found is: we must accept what we are. we must be thankful every day for our bodies.
We must thank
god every day for being safe and sound, for being able to move to speak to see
to hear to think from the bottom of our hearts.
We must accept our bodies
· Nobody's
perfect. Everybody wants to be liked and accepted just as they
are. That's true for every BODY, too! See your body the way it is. STOP being critical. Be more of a friend.
· Don't
body-shame yourself: respect yourself and be kind. STOP making harsh comments
about your own body, it hurts your self-esteem whether you say it
out loud or think it to yourself. It hurts just as much as if someone else said
it.
· Build a
better habit: Find things you like about your looks. For example,
when you look in the mirror, smile to yourself Compliment yourself, tell
yourself what you like instead of what you don't. Maybe you like your hair,
face, or hands. What about your shape, shoulders, or legs? Your eyes or your
smile? Like Your Body.
· Focus on
what your body can DO. When you play a sport, walk, run, dance, swim — that's your body in action.
Your body is there for you when you move, when you stretch, climb, or jump for joy.
When you carry heavy things, build things, or hug even someone. your body can do miracles. Be amazed. Be thankful.
· Be aware of
your body. Don't ignore your body as you go through the day.
Learn to inhale and exhale slowly and calmly when you move and stretch. Learn to know your body when
he needs food or rest. Enjoy the way your body feels when you walk, run,
and play.
