Every day, I wake up and go directly to my coffee machine, my best place.

I know that more than half of the population in the whole world does the same. coffee lovers. some people can't live without a cup of coffee in the morning, others can't live without having at least 4 cups a day.

but didn't you ask yourself what are the effects of coffee on our health?

will, actually, it has pros and cons. let's begin with pos.

1. Improves Energy Levels:

Coffee helps people feel less tired and increases energy levels.

After you drink coffee, the caffeine is absorbed into your bloodstream. From there, it goes directly to your brain

Several controlled studies in humans show that caffeine improves various aspects of brain function — including memory, mood, vigilance, energy levels, reaction times, and general mental function.

2. Helps Burning Fat:

You must’ve heard that drinking coffee before going to the gym helps you burn more calories. Actually, it is true.

Several studies show that caffeine can boost your metabolic rate by 3–11% and can specifically, increase fat burning by as much as 10% in obese individuals and 29% in lean people.

Which is the reason why we found that Caffeine is found in almost every commercial fat-burning supplement — and for good reason. It’s a natural substance that is proven to help in fat burning.

However, it’s possible that these effects gradually disappear in long-term coffee drinkers.

Therefore, it makes good sense to have a strong cup of coffee about half an hour before heading to the gym.

3. Lowers the Risk of Type 2 Diabetes:

For a reason, those who drink coffee regularly have a significantly reduced risk of type 2 diabetes, which is a major health problem, currently affecting millions of people worldwide.

It’s characterized by an increase of blood sugar levels caused by insulin resistance or a reduced ability to secrete insulin.

Studies notice that people who drink the most coffee have a 23–50% lower risk of getting this disease.

6. Protects From Alzheimer’s Disease:

Alzheimer is the most common neurodegenerative disease and the leading cause of dementia worldwide, that affects people over 65, and there is no known cure.

However,  eating healthy and exercising, prevent the disease from occurring in the first place, and drinking coffee maybe incredibly effective as well.

Several studies show that coffee drinkers can have up to a 65% lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

9. Fights Depression:

Depression is a serious mental disorder. It’s very common, as about 4.1% of people in the US currently meet the criteria for clinical depression.

A 2011 study in Harvard published, women who drank 4 or more cups of coffee per day had a 20% lower risk of becoming depressed.

10. Lowers Risk of Certain Types of Cancer:

Cancer is one of the world’s leading causes of death. It is known as uncontrolled cell growth in your body.

Coffee seems to be protective against two types of cancer: liver and colorectal cancer.

Liver cancer is the third leading cause of cancer death in the world, when colorectal cancer ranks fourth

Studies show that coffee drinkers are characterized by a lower risk of liver cancer that can reach up to 40%.

In addition to that, one study in 489,706 people found that those who drank 4–5 cups of coffee per day had a 15% lower risk of colorectal cancer.

5.Reduces blood pressure:

Drinking coffee regularly helps reduce high blood pressure and contributes to a lower risk of cardiovascular disease because they are rich in polyphenols (are a category of compounds naturally found in plant foods: herbs, fruits, vegetables, spices, dark chocolate, tea, and wine, which can act as antioxidants).

While adrenaline and blood pressure levels increased for those who often don't drink caffeine.

At first, these effects don’t usually last very long. In just a week, regular consumers of caffeine can develop a partial or even full tolerance to its adrenaline-stimulating effects, and so will stop experiencing a raising in blood pressure when drinking tea or coffee.

However, excess caffeine has several sides effects:

It causes sleep issues:

A 2013 study showed that if you drink coffee six hours before bedtime, you will fall asleep twice as hard. Therefore, if you consume excess caffeine, it can lead to insomnia.

Heart palpitations:

Caffeine release compounds like adrenaline and that can increase your heart rate. So if you ever felt your heartbeat very fast during the day? It can be from the coffee. However, this differs from person to person so if you know you have heart problems, you should automatically consult a doctor about these palpitations.

Your skin begins to prematurely age:

As soon as you start to drink coffee, the collagen in your skin will shrink. The less collagen you have, The more wrinkles you get. Of course, these things are to be expected as we get older, but excess coffee leads to speeding up this process.

Frequent bathroom breaks:

Caffeine has been shown to increase urine production. In addition, caffeine makes muscles in the bladder contract more often. Many trips to the bathroom are waiting for you if you drink more cups of coffee a day.

Funky breath:

Probably the reason you have bad breath is coffee. Due to Caffeine, your mouth dries, because coffee slows down the production of saliva. Also, the milk in the coffee can contribute to the problem.

Should we stop drinking coffee?

what is our daily dose of CAFFEINE?

an average adult is recommended to consume up to 400mg of caffeine a day, for about, 2-4 cups of coffee, of course, depending on their strength, or 8 cups of tea. according to The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

when women are pregnant, caffeine metabolism is greatly reduced, so pregnant persons are advised to take just half the usual allowance of caffeine each day (~200mg).

While the evidence proposes that it’s generally OK for children and teenagers to take some caffeine, they should do so carefully so that it doesn’t affect mood and sleep in a negative way.

In extreme cases, when overdosing on caffeine, You might start to experience toxic side effects if you consumed around 1.2g of caffeine or more at once, while doses of 10-14g of caffeine are considered to be fatal.

Fortunately, caffeine-related deaths are not common, since reaching 10g of caffeine would involve drinking more than one hundred shots of espresso over a small period of time. Caffeine-related deaths happen, but usually only when someone consumes very high doses of caffeine supplements in an effort to boost athletic performance or treat psychiatric illness.

In my personal point of view, it is better to take 1 or 2 cups of coffee a day and it is preferable taking it after an hour from waking up in the morning and after eating something. Don’t drink coffee on a full stomach, this will help reducing coffee addiction and headaches after waking up.

You don’t need to cut off caffeine as long as you are having it in moderation so that you do not encounter problems of this kind.
